Title Patient Service Representative- Oconto Falls Description Job Description and Essential Functions Job Title/Position: PSR Scheduler Job Classification: Administrative/Professional Support Date of Analysis: Date of Revision/Review: 08/2018 __________________________________________________________________________________________ Brief Description of Job Responsibilities: Providing exceptional care for our patients as well as recognizing the value of your co-workers is the expectation of all members of the Prevea Clinic organization. All members are expected to focus on the patient`s needs; relate to all in a friendly, accepting manner; communicate in a positive and professional way to patients and co workers; use time effectively and efficiently; and demonstrate an overall high level of performance. Schedule all Prevea patient mammograms and appropriately screen as outlined in the scheduling protocols. Answer telephones in a timely and professional manner. Take accurate and appropriate messages. Welcome patients and inform them of the medical services that we are able to provide other than those they have requested. To discuss insurance coverage, including usual and customary charges, Medicare, and Medical Assistance availability if necessary. Specialized Responsibilities: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned) - Answer any questions that a patient may have and when unsure, direct the patient to the appropriate area.
- Welcome patients to the Clinic, as well as provide a positive first impression of the Department.
- Schedule and cancel patient appointments, mammograms, and diagnostic procedures.
- Answer the telephone; take messages, page physicians, etc.
- Enter patient insurance coverage information for patients.
- Inform patients of the variety of services that are offered by the Clinic and the expectations of the Clinic from our patients.
- Willingness to learn all aspects of the department.
- Help with any job related items that may arise.
- Works collaboratively with the mammogram department and breast Health Coordinator.
- Works closely with breast surgeon(s) staff in scheduling appointments.
- Some Cash handling and the collection of any payments is required in accordance with Prevea Policies and Procedures.
Performance Requirements: - Ability to work with patients of all ages in a courteous and professional manner.
- Must be empathetic, yet responsive to patients` needs.
- Ability to ask for payments required in a tactful manner.
- Good organizational skill and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to handle difficult situations, while maintaining a professional demeanor.
- Flexible with personal schedule to meet the needs of the department.
- Willing to accept change in a positive way in order to see the department strive forward.
Education/Experience/Certifications: - Medical terminology helpful.
- Will be expected to learn two (Prevea and St. Mary`s Hospital) scheduling systems.
- Prior receptionist experience or job related experience.
- Knowledge of computer system with emphasis on scheduling, registration and insurance screens.
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medical Assistance, third party payers, and other programs associated with Prevea.
Non-Essential Duties: Other duties as assigned. Typical Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent telephone contact with patients. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Contact involves with dealing with sick people. Typical Physical Demands: Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending, and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a mouse keyboard, type at 60 wpm, and operate a calculator, telephone, copier, dictation recorder and such other office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/30 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment, which can be very stressful.
