Brief Description of Job Responsibilities:

Works closely with the Patient Service Representatives team regarding Prevea`s financial processes and policies. Completes financial responsibilities within designated areas. Makes a positive first impression on any person utilizing Prevea Health services, whether on the phone or in person.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate communication between patients, family members, medical staff, providers, and administrative staff-via phone, in person, or through MyPrevea regarding financial services.
  2. Obtain and confirm accurate insurance/coverage information.
  3. Assist patient or caller with financial questions regarding policies, insurances, payments, or other financial needs.
  4. Process and troubleshoot front-end denial claims.
  5. Provide education and training to Patient Service Representative team as needed.
  6. Assist in keeping financial processes and policies updated and communicated.
  7. Act as a resource to registration staff to reduce errors, troubleshoot financial inquiries, or coverage questions.
  8. Attend meetings as required and follow the policies and procedures of the organization.
  9. Follow up on accounts with billing questions or concerns.

Specialized Requirements:

  1. Handle cash in accordance with Prevea policies and procedures.
  2. Appropriately collect required payments, including co-payments, outstanding balances, and payments in accordance with Prevea policies and procedures.
  3. Provide timely price estimates to patients upon request.
  4. Coordinate communication and details for work comp claim processing.
  5. Provide error-free and accurate daily batch and/or deposits to appropriate staff for processing.
  6. Complete all work tasks in accordance with privacy, compliance, and HIPAA laws.
  7. Manage Front End Denials, Cash Services and Confidential Accounts Work Queues.
  8. Correct charges, transfer charges and payments as necessary when working in different accounts.

Performance Requirements:

  1. Ability to adapt to frequently changing protocols and processes in a fast-paced environment.
  2. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing exceptional customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  3. Communicate effectively with employees throughout the organization in a proactive and positive manner, as well as possess the ability to motivate in order to accomplish the goals of the department and the clinic.
  4. Promotes teamwork and provides a supportive environment for staff in the assigned departments and throughout the organization.
  5. Ability to multi-task in an efficient and effective manner.
  6. Ability to think critically using provided information in the decision-making process.
  7. Engages in active listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate.
  8. Must be empathetic and responsive to patient`s needs, continually looking for ways to assist patients.
  9. Knowledgeable of the computer systems with an emphasis on learning and training on the Epic system
  10. Ability to work independently.
  11. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to accurately type patient information and take appropriate messages.
  12. Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and professionally.
  13. Must be willing to work at all locations, various shifts and extended hours as needed.

Education/Experience/Certifications:

  1. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in customer service, insurance and/or healthcare setting preferred.
  2. Proficient interpersonal, telephone and computer skills

Typical Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment. Involves continual contact with staff and the public. Possible exposure to communicable diseases.

  1. Long sedentary hours
  2. Computer time stressful on eyes

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires sitting for long periods of time. Working in an office environment. Some bending and stretching is required. Vision must be correctable to 20/30 and hearing must be in the normal range. Working with occasional stress and the ability to adapt to continuous change is required. Use of telephone and computers are required. Manual dexterity required for use of phone, calculator, and computer keyboard.
