Position Summary The Phlebotomy Supervisor reports to the Director of Laboratory. This position is responsible for overseeing personnel, ensuring efficient workflow processes, and partnering with departments throughout the organization. This position is responsible for assisting with day-to-day responsibilities assigned in the laboratory. Essential Job Responsibilities Serve as a working supervisor performing venipuncture procedures using aseptic techniques and therapeutic phlebotomy according to established standard Partner with leadership team to create and implement policies and procedures Maintain phlebotomy inventory and organization and assists with maintenance of department cleanliness Work closely with laboratory leadership team to ensure departmental goals are met Assist in the design and implementation of quality management reports, performance improvement projects, monitor progress, and perform corrective actions Assist with personnel evaluations and ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards Assist leadership with monitoring and maintaining budget related processes Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers Remains available to all staff, seeking opportunities to become actively involved, lend support, address problems, and suggest areas of improvement Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED, required. Licensure and Certification: National Phlebotomy Technician Certification from ASCP, AMT, NCA, AAH or other accredited certification organizations Experience: Minimum of two years experience in an acute care hospital environment and one year phlebotomy supervisor experience in a high volume and fast paced clinical setting, required. Proficient in regulatory compliance and accreditation standards of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Association for Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB), The Joint Commission (TJC), and Clinical Laboratory Amendments (CLIA)
