The role of the Physical Medicine Manager reports to the Director of Therapy Services. This position is responsible for day-to-day management of the Physical Medicine team. This position will address personnel, production, and system issues and are responsible for overseeing and supporting the continued development of the physical medicine team.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction in accordance with department and/or organization goals and objectives
Assist in the development and implementation of short and long-term goals for the three therapy services teams
Interview, hire, evaluate staff performance, and when necessary, assist in resolving complex employee relations matters
Create staffing schedule and ensure proper staffing levels are maintained by evaluating patient census
Study trends and variances in the physical medicine industry and ensure financial resources are properly budgeted
Ensure accreditation, legal, and medical compliance are managed and maintained and remain knowledgeable regarding regulations at the local, state, and federal level
Effectively manage department needs regarding equipment, space, moves, signage, cleaning, PPE, supplies, etc.
Ensure that all Washington Regional policies and procedures are effectively communicated to and implemented by all staff
Ensure staff are properly oriented, trained, and remain current in relevant competencies and partner with educator as needed
Assist with implementation and monitoring of department budget
Assist with technical direction in evaluation and proper treatment for patients
Ensure quality care is provided by staff through direct supervision and feedback
Maintain culture of safety and recommends workflow changes, as appropriate
Remain knowledgeable in Physical Medicine literature, trends, and new developments and keep staff updated through various communication methods
Maintain positive and productive working relationship with interdisciplinary team through effective and timely communication
Ensure patient charges are accurate and submitted on a timely basis through chart audits
Maintain records pertinent to personnel and operations of the department
Coordinate changes and/or updates to electronic medical record templates, as needed
Perform quality review and submit performance optimization ideas on proper charting techniques in outpatient and inpatient settings for all staff
Minimum Education: Graduate from an accredited Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Therapy program with a masters or higher, required.
Licensure and Certifications: Arkansas State Therapy License and CPR, required. Valid drivers license and auto liability insurance, required.
Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisory and/or leadership role with a focus in physical medicine, required. Minimum 4 years of healthcare experience, required.
Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. Occasional travel between system facilities is required. This position has exposure to body fluids, radiation, and communicable diseases. This position serves a culturally and linguistically diverse population. This position serves a broad age range including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
