Job Description
 

  • As a Mixer Operator, you will be responsible for completing the following duties:
  • Communicate with bed foremen and QC personnel to determine concrete formula desired and number of cubic yards required.
  • Call up formula from computer, enter number of cubic yards, and adjust moisture content as necessary.
  • Monitor computer screen to ensure all components are weighed and mixed as required by the formula.  Inject steam into mixture as required to batch concrete at requested temperature.
  • Direct Equipment Operators to appropriate mixer.
  • Discharge concrete into delivery equipment.
  • Mix concrete manually when small amounts are needed. 
  • Clean mixer and work area daily; includes chipping and greasing as necessary. 
  • Substitute for Equipment Operators to deliver concrete as necessary.  
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by Supervisor.

Qualifications

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:  None. 

 

Education and/or Experience:  High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment:
• The work areas are not climate controlled. Ambient temperatures and humidity will generally be the same as outdoor temperatures. In the summer, temperatures and humidity can be greater than the ambient temperature. In winter, they can be lower.
• Some work will be done in direct sunlight outdoors
• Due to the nature of the operation, the levels of noise, dust and dirt can be very high
