As a Sr. Payload integration Engineer, you`ll have the opportunity to be a part of a fast paced highly technical rapid prototyping team working on integration of aerospace payloads on our stratospheric platforms. You`ll assist engineers in design, fabrication, and test as well as supporting field operations of initial stratospheric payload deployment.
This position has opportunities to travel, perform hands-on engineering, interface with customers, and lead designs from concept through operational demonstration.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Sr. Payload integration Engineer, you`ll have the opportunity to be a part of a fast paced highly technical rapid prototyping team working on integration of aerospace payloads on our stratospheric platforms. You`ll assist engineers in design, fabrication, and test as well as supporting field operations of initial stratospheric payload deployment.
This position has opportunities to travel, perform hands-on engineering, interface with customers, and lead designs from concept through operational demonstration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Work with internal and external engineering teams to obtain and communicate payload requirements.

Responsible for estimating project schedule and subsequently keeping project deliverables on time, both by internal and external resources.

Provide input and direction on requirements, function, and fit of new/enhanced products into entire product line.

Researching vendors and source hardware ensuring suitability to support stratospheric payload integration.

Design, coordinate, and contribute to the assembly of high quality prototypes of custom one of a kind aerospace grade electrical and mechanical assemblies.

Document technical data to aid in fabrication and operational support of payload integrations; including: engineering specifications, drawings, models, manuals, processes, or bill of materials.

Write test plans, conduct tests, document results, and present on them both internally and externally.

Maintain close connection to the payload product market and new technology development to provide valuable input in the new product development process.

Will require some travel to support customer installation, operation, troubleshooting, and/or field repairs.

Must be willing to maintain a clean and safe work area.

May be called upon to perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and/or assist in other product areas as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS

Experienced engineer with 5+ years of career experience, with Bachelor`s degree. 3+ years experience with Master`s degree. PHD entry level. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical manufacturing, prototyping, and troubleshooting techniques required, demonstration of proficiency on aerospace products required.

Experience with some communications and remote sensing payloads highly desired.

Experience reading engineering electrical schematics and mechanical drawings required.

Experience trouble shooting cables and printed circuit board assemblies with electronics test diagnostics equipment like multimeters required and oscilloscopes desired.

Experience using RF test tools like spectrum analyzers and vector network analyzers desired.

Experience setting-up and administering IP networks desired.

Proficiency with a computer, including Microsoft Office Word, Power Point, and Excel required.

Experience using CAD software like Solidworks desired.

Experience using ECAD software like Altium desired.

Experience using Linux command prompt interface desired.

Experience doing simple programming Python and/or C++ desired.

Experience using machine shop tools like saws, drill press, manual mill, and lathe as well as common hand tools desired.

Experience using electronics assembly tools and cable fabrication tools like soldering irons and crimpers desired.

Team player who is self-motivated, and has ability to work with minimal supervision.

Desire and ability to teach less experienced technicians and engineers.

Desire and ability to work at a fast pace efficiently.

Ability to communicate effectively with team members, customers and leadership staff.

Ability to do domestic and international travel as required to support testing.

Ability to obtain and hold security clearance required, active security clearance desired.
