Our Patch Management and Governance team requires a highly-experienced Infrastructure Engineer responsible for driving engineering, automation and support for security and application patching in the Technology area. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for Patch Management, you will support database patching and vulnerability remediation in both production and pre-production environments, reporting to the Director for Patch Management and Governance. The role requires work to be done on keeping all databases patched and keep up the required compliance level. An ideal candidate will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Database and Middleware Engineering delivering solutions leveraging the industry best practices (Design, Availability, Compliance, Back-ups, and Recovery) and providing operational support for database infrastructure. Our Technology Stack Windows Server 2012, 2016 and 2019 RHEL 6/7 and 8, AIX Oracle WebLogic 10, 12c and 14c Oracle DBMS 12c/18c/19c Postgres SQL12 MS SQL Server 2012/2014/2016/2019 Oracle Grid/RAC, ASM, Oracle CIS Security Standards, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for patch management RMAN for data backup/ recovery Oracle Active Data Guard, Oracle Golden Gate, Attunity or related data replication products UNIX and Linux shell scripting skills Vulnerability management tools Nexpose Primary Responsibilities: PATCH COMPLIANCE - Assess software patches and create recommended patch list with logical explanation in terms of compliance.
- Develop and optimize pre- and post- patching process to ensure proper implementation without any outages.
- Score each patch based on risks & opportunity to prioritize. Identify which patches are more valuable to the organization than others.
- Act as an escalation point for patch execution / partner team mentoring them and resolving complex scenarios and technical issues
- Ensures overall service levels for infrastructure uptimes through patch management standards, firmware upgrades and vendor based advisory
- Analyzes trend data to identify potential patch related issues on various images and assists teams in troubleshooting to implement any resolutions/improvements needed for proactive resolution
- Develops automation scripts and programs to streamline manual patch operations and improve mean time to deliver and first-time right metrics.
- Assist in implementation during patch maintenance windows and assists in documenting completion of the change.
- Measures and recommends improvement for patching service levels and success rates
- Maintains ticket queues for new patching or change requests
- Supports the determination of patches needed as well as implementation of corrective actions by doing thorough due diligence
- Perform Patch management tasks include maintaining current knowledge of available patches, deciding what patches are appropriate for systems, ensuring that patches are installed properly, testing systems after installation, and documenting all associated procedures.
VULNERABILITY MANAGEMENT - Must be skilled in vulnerability assessment, risk rating, threat correlation, asset-based remediation planning, and reporting PATCH AUTOMATION Design, build, test and deploy scripting and automation to reduce the effort required to deploy security patches and support. Align solutions with the existing technology stack to provide seamless delivery OPERATING SYSTEMS Good knowledge of OS administration RHEL, Windows Server and hands on experience with UNIX and Linux shell scripting skills TEAM PLAYER Act as a team player supporting peers, department management and business unit leadership to fulfill operational service levels, department initiatives and project deliverables. SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT Act as an expert support resource for multiple Database / Middleware technology stack components. Assist and mentor system administrators and analysts to foster personal growth and accountability Qualifications: - BS in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent) with minimum 8 years of database Engineering and Administration
- Possess knowledge of OS administration RHEL, Windows Server with hands on experience with UNIX and Linux shell scripting skills
- Implemented and supported mission critical systems providing Engineering and Operational support
- Perform SQL queries, manages Oracle database users, determines patch set levels, and maintain version compliance for Database and WebLogic servers
- Perform Oracle database patching, WebLogic application server patching for audit compliance
- Assess vulnerabilities in database and middleware Pre-Production and Production environments, test and implement solutions to remediate vulnerabilities
- Extensive experience applying Oracle maintenance PSUs and CPUs patches
- Experience with data replication technologies like Oracle`s Golden Gate, IBM`s IIDR and Active Data Guard
- Experience working with MS SQL Server 2012 through 2019
- Solid understanding of physical and logical database design
- Understanding of middleware technologies as it relates to database connectivity
- Deep understanding of networking and storage technologies related to databases
- Solid troubleshooting and incident management skills
- Experience with Attunity Replicate is a plus
- Work with the appropriate teams (Security Compliance, Internal and External Auditors) to review security policies, participate in audits, and implement the appropriate remediation measures
- Practice and deliver with Industry best practices for all database and middleware infrastructure
- Excellent communication skills
