Our client, a distiinguished jeweler continues to be highly sought after by leading tastemakers and style influencers, and serving as a go-to brand for celebrities in the spotlight. The brand is distributed through their own boutiques in New York and Beverly Hills; they also distribute their collections of iconic designs through a select network of luxury retailers, and regular trunk shows in the United States and the Middle East.

The position will be based in the company headquarters on the Upper East Side of New York. This is an office first position; near-term accommodations are being made due to the pandemic; in the future,team members will be expected to work in the office; individuals needs for flexibility will be considered.

Controller

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is a critical part of the infrastructure of this growing brand. Responsibilities include:

• Control / Treasury
  • Conduct financial reporting in conjunction with US GAAP for wholesale, retail and eCommerce businesses.
  • Manage A/P, A/R, journal entries including intercompany entries.
  • General accounting and inventory Reconciliation
  • Create formats for, and prepare, weekly Flash Reports
  • Ensure timely reconciliation of all bank accounts and credit card accounts, A/P, cash disbursements, inventory reconciliation, general journal entries, and sales analysis
  • Manage timely monthly, quarterly close, budget vs actual analyses
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Financial Statements
  • Work with external auditors on year-end financial close, Federal and State tax returns
  • Process monthly sales and use tax returns
  • Prepare required reports for the bank, manages short term cash flow
  • Maintain good relationships with outside vendors/customers/partners
  • Manage payroll and core HR functions
  • Identify and help implement next-generation systems for core finance functions (e.g., expense management)

• FP&A
  • Business analysis by channel, product etc.
  • What-if scenarios for various aspects of the business
  • Tracking and optimization of key financial metrics e.g. revenue, return rates, discounts, partnership economics
  • Short- and long-term forecasting, financial modeling, cash flow projections
  • Draw conclusions from financials reports, spot inefficiencies and propose corrective actions
  • Develop KPIs and measures related to each business channel

Controller

Experience in luxury goods is a plus but capabilities is a must! Our candidate is a critical thinkers, who can take ownership of their work, multitask comfortably, and work with a high degree of independence and trust. Specific qualifications include:

• 6 plus years of broad based accounting and financial reporting is required;
• A degree in Finance, Accounting or related field is a plus, as is an MBA/CPA
• Mastery of Excel, with very strong analytical skills
• Must be fluent with a standard accounting package (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics); more extensive knowledge of ERP systems is a strong plus, as is facility with new technologies and tools
• Good communicator with internal and external customers; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are critically important, as is demonstrated ability to develop good relationships with vendors
• Able to plan and manage work independently; ability to multitask effectively is a must
• Positive, helpful attitude excited to take on new projects, and ready to step in to help others
• Not afraid to think out-of-the-box. Intellectually curious, hungry for knowledge and finding solutions
• A degree in Finance, Accounting or related field is a plus, as is an MBA/CPA
• High attention to detail is an absolute requirement
