Responsible for the purchasing of consumable goods: Electricity, natural gas, utilities, maintenance items, capital expenditures. Responsible for management and control of inventory. Will have 2 or 3 buyers that report to this role. - Negotiate with vendors for best quality and price.
- Work on related projects with little or no direction
- Use analytic skills & prior knowledge to make decisions
- Assist in the resolution of product and delivery problems.
- Audit vendors to ensure compliance with quality standards, monitor vendor performance.
- Submit RFPs, examine bids and make awards.
- Negotiate blanket orders, & monitor the same.
- Facilitate receipt of orders in a timely fashion. Resolves any timeliness, delivery or quality issues with vendors.
Strategic Planning - Monitor market prices, trends, and developments to advise cost reduction or containment opportunities
- Implement purchasing procedures and standards
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor`s Degree in business, management, or related field
- 3+ years experience in purchasing
- CPM certification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
- Ability to demonstrate solid written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to contribute in a cross functional collaborative environment.
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical problem solving skills.
Education: University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
