Our client is a large Tier I Automotive supplier that has a plant located east of Birmingham, AL and is need of filling a Manufacturing Engineering / Technical Manager position. The successful candidate will ahve specific experience working as Manufacturing Engineeirng Manager, Technical Manager or similar within a Tier I Automotive environment. - Responsible for ensuring the overall success of a program including interfacing with internal/external disciplines including Engineering, Finance, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, and Purchasing
- Responsible for ensuring the overall success of assigned engineering and manufacturing programs
- Coordinate and direct programs, making detailed plans to accomplish goals
- Direct the integration of technical activities; analyze technology, resource needs, to plan and assess the feasibility of programs, using Material Requirement Planning (MRP), capacity planning and materials management experience, as well as tools such as QAD, SAP and JIT; plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and equipment
- Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and direct the negotiation of research contracts
- Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services
- Review and recommend or approve contracts and cost estimates.
- Develop and implement equipment standard operating procedures and process flow chart for assigned processes
- Develop and implement scrap reduction methods and review all assigned process to determine areas for cost reduction as related to process improvements
- Maintain open communication with Process Engineers/ Control Engineers / IT Technicians and assist with direction as necessary
- Review customer produced engineering/styling/tooling as assigned to assist in determining manufacturing feasibility, process capability, and also, perform process capability studies on new program launches as assigned
- Issue capital appropriation requests, equipment specifications, and contracts
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules on all existing and new equipment
- Participate and support all lean, continuous improvement programs, initiatives and activities.
- Develop and mentor employees in Maintenance, Facilities, Injection Molding, Assembly, MRO and PM departments
- Prioritize department objectives and tasks as related to field and production needs
- Management of contractor and outsourcing activities
- Control MRO & OS processes, establishing budget, maintaining forecasts
- Spare Parts Establishing critical spare parts. Maintaining correct min/max levels
- Coordinate repair/ECNs related to injection tools.
- Quotation of potential new business and current business engineering changes.
- Quotation of tooling improvements/assembly fixtures/EOATs and poke-yoke devices.
- Understand/Development of Engineering BOMs
- Development of SAPs (Specified Action Plans) for launch of programs.
- Facilitate customer interaction and control with plant.
- Facilitate engineering changes between customer, supplier and plant.
- Ensure costing, budget control and cost variation of each program.
- Responsible for PV/DV testing at launch development timing for new programs.
- Responsible for design/drawing reviews for manufacturing feasibility at launch program timing.
- Serves as 24 hour contact response team to customers and OEMs (at work & home).
- Facilitate/orchestrate the APQP process for the program and plantwide team.
QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications: - BS degree in a Technical Area
- 10+ years of manufacturing experience preferably in automotive
- 5+ years of management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Good mix of manufacturing experience e.g. (maintenance, operations, process, facility, etc.)
- Experience with interfacing with both internal and external contacts
- Excellent communication ability and an organized, efficient work style
- Experience with Allen Bradley, PLC controls, PM/TPM implementation, robot programming, hydraulics, and injection molding processing.
Education: University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
