JOB DESCRIPTION

Outcome of the Role:

The Dental Hygienist is responsible for the direct delivery of oral hygiene and appropriate preventive services to dental patients.

  • Be in compliance with all laws governing our company (e.g., HIPAA)
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Record patient-hygienist transactions as they occur in the patients dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient, and the care or treatment provided
  • Do not cut corners to achieve organizational goals

  • Provide oral health education and appropriate individual counseling for all dental patients
  • Provide and encourage the highest level of customer service and quality care to enhance the patient experience
  • Follow all company established clinical and infection control protocols with the goal of patient safety
  • Drive appointment processing and efficiency by supporting all clinical aspects patient appointment as needed to meet the needs of the patient and keep the hygiene flow moving effectively. This may include, but not limited to taking x-rays, charting, chair turnover, etc.

Accountability - Taking responsibility for meeting our commitment and taking ownership of our results.

  • Maintain instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by selecting, sterilizing, and sharpening instruments
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; participating in professional societies
  • Follow all established team member safety guidelines (OSHA) and assist leadership to fill potential gaps

Minimum Qualifications:

  • State Certification/License (where applicable)
  • Understands State and ADA/OSHA/HIPAA/CDC compliance requirements
  • Excellent Verbal Communication Skills
  • Basic Computer Skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior pediatric dentistry experience
  • Ability to multi-task and complete tasks correctly and in a timely manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR) Practice Management Software Experience
  • Administration of Local Anesthetic (where applicable)
  • Restorative functions (where applicable)

Physical Requirements:

This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally 50.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a dental office which is a clinical and office environment. Dental Hygienists are occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals; therefore, compliance with proper safety and OSHA standards is required. This role routinely utilizes standard dental and office equipment.
