JOB DESCRIPTION

Stable, growing company seeks embedded software engineer for their Long Island NY facility. They are well-established and have a strong product portfolio in the electronics space, providing high-reliability connectivity, power and control solutions for aerospace, defense, industrial, and space applications. They are developing new technologies for their customer base in the US and internationally. They are a nimble mid-size company. Part of a larger corporation with great benefits, etc.

The role reports into Engineering and supports both production and new product designs. The role works on assignments requiring judgement and initiative.

Primary/Essential Duties:

  • Perform electrical tests, troubleshoot and evaluate circuits down to component level.
  • Record accurate data and create formal and informal reports on test or evaluation activities.
  • Fabricate breadboards and prototype units.
  • Assist in the procurement of parts and materials; follow up on part procurement and assembly of products.
  • Assist engineers in the preparation and checking of various drawings such as assembly, bills of material, schematics, layout drawings and procedures.
  • Create drawing packages for design projects such as delta sheet products.
  • Builds, assembles and tests various types of electronic circuits, electro-mechanical assemblies, etc.

Secondary Duties:

  • Design simple circuits and test fixtures with assistance with assistance from more experienced technical staff.
  • Follow plans and schedules for technical projects.
  • Perform software maintenance and/or software development as required by the individual department.
  • Provide technical support to engineers on assigned tasks working within defined standard operating procedures and/or engineering methods
  • Recommend design modifications by compiling data related to designs, specifications and materials
  • Participates in project meeting and design reviews with technical and engineering personnel, reviewing development issues reported to assist in resolving
QUALIFICATIONS

Educational / Experience Qualifications:

  • New College Graduate or Associates degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent technical training.
  • At least 2 years related work experience including experience in some of the following:
    • fabricating prototype circuits from schematics;
    • testing and troubleshooting complex circuits;
    • basic AC, DC and semiconductor circuit theory
    • designing simple circuits;
    • and using CAD tools and other specialized engineering software.
    • Utilizing lab equipment such as Oscilloscope, DMM, AC/DC Power supplie
  • Good understanding of basic math (algebra and trigonometry) and engineering related sciences.
  • Able to perform all duties listed above with minimal supervision or technical guidance.
  • Must be self motivated, conscientious, reliable and responsible.
  • Must exhibit good decision-making skills.
