As the new Field Design Sales Engineer, you will take ownership of new business generation via design-in and design-win of in the western US territory. In this position your primary focus on design-in, identification of new projects with established account base as well as new/potential customers. Field Design Sales Engineer-Passive Resistors

Location: Home based in Arizona or Colorado

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Field Design Sales Engineer to join their team. Long standing client who are an industry leading global electronic passive component manufacturer with a very strong brand and position within their space.

As the new Field Design Sales Engineer, you will take ownership of new business generation via design-in and design-win of in the western US territory. In this position your primary focus on design-in, identification of new projects with established account base as well as new/potential customers. Your passion for working with other engineers on challenging applications and finding a win-win solution could make this position an ideal fit for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate relationships with engineers and existing customers (direct & distribution). Goal is to grow design-ins at known customers (safe travel by provided car or air when approved)
  • Be able to understand our products, their benefits over competition and to present and perform demonstrations (kits provided) to customers
  • Strategically identify new target customers in end-user markets that could potentially benefit from foil resistor technology, qualify and report the account for determination of further investment of sales resources
  • Be able to identify the resources necessary (local or factory) and communicate customer requirements needed to ultimately satisfy customer needs and win/grow our business
  • Complete administrative requirements for reporting back to management (example): call reports, requested presentation materials, expense reports, travel reports, etc.
  • Train distributors where/when necessary to develop a joint sales capability at major customers
  • Follow up with ongoing design-ins until confirmation of reaching Production level (customer P/N; BOM, first orders, Sales Orders), taking ownership on all projects until they are finalized and handed over to the sales management process
  • Follow up after old projects in order to ensure there is no risk of design-out, and to try promote new solutions to renew these projects
  • Support policies & procedures to promote continuous improvements to the quality of the product

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline
  • 5+ years of face-to-face technical electronics sales experience with design-in objectives
  • Preferred technical experience in passive components and Military/Aerospace customer experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% within the assigned region
  • Ability to create productive relationships with customers and provide solutions
  • Proactive in managing key interface relationships within the company
