Quality Assurance Technician

Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Technician ensures that all food products produced meets requirements of customers, regulatory bodies (USDA), and the company. Monitors production and records all findings on appropriate documentation related to direct food production, product packaging and labeling, food quality, safety, etc. Contributes a positive attitude to the team.

Primary Job Duties:

Preforms finished product inspection

Perform net weight monitoring and/or verification

Collect product samples and analyze fat content (if applicable)

Prepared samples for Silliker to do plate counts and analysis for E-coli 015H7

Generate deviation and non-compliant reports

Maintain HOLD tag report

Collect Process Control Data

Perform Raw Material Analysis

Perform Pre-Operative Inspection

Perform Operational Inspections

Verify CCP's

Perform micro swabbing as required

Monitor to assure conformance to requirements of QA Procedures

Verify documentation in their area to assure recall ability

Pre-Shipment Review

Verify Key QCP's

Complete Employee HACCP training

Maintain positive working relationships with USDA inspectors, superintendents, supervisors, QA team members, production team members, and corporate personnel

Comply with USDA/FSIS guidelines

Help enforce GMPs

Complete product sensory evaluation as required

Communicate and align in house testing with corporate R&D personnel including test lot reports, guidance through test procedure, gathering all information, reporting and analyzing

Promptly communicate issues to the Supervisor. Recommend improvement ideas.

Comply with company conduct and attendance expectations.

Employment Requirements:

Two years of food manufacturing experience is preferred. Bilingual is a plus.

Minimum high school or equivalency, college or some college preferred.

Good communication skills (verbal & written), including basic technical information

Strong problem-solving skills

Basic math skills including and ability to apply mathematical concepts to inspection

Ability to use and read scales and other measuring equipment and tools

Ability to read, interpret, and follow policies and procedures

Ability to read and interpret labels

Multi-task and manage conflicting priorities

Good inter-personal skills. Courteous, cooperative, collaborative.

HACCP certification is a plus

Sanitation Certification is a plus

Punctual and reliable.

Ability to wear required PPE including hardhat, gloves, safety glasses, steel toed boots, mask and face shield.

Eighteen years or older with ability to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Willingness and general ability to work in other areas of equal or less pay as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Five-day work weeks, Monday to Friday, eight hours daily with overtime as required. Some weekend work upon notice. Start and end times may vary based on production needs.

A refrigerated environment and occasionally wet conditions.

Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds. (?)

Standing up to 8-10 hours daily.

Exposure to animal fat, grease and chemicals.

Noise level may be enough to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard in Production.
