POSITION SUMMARY
This position calls for an experienced, confident fundraising leader who thrives in a complex and proactive environment; has a track record of success in fundraising; understands and embraces relational, sustainable fundraising; has a passion for excellence; and cares about the mission and people of Envision Dallas.
The Director of Development is high performing, self-motivated leader responsible for assisting the Managing Director with strategic development, best practices development, operational and employee oversight within the Envision Dallas Foundation. This position administers the organizational level short and long-range development plans, raising funds to support the mission and working hand-in-hand with the other programmatic departments it supports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Identifies potential contributors including individuals, corporations, and foundations; develops strategies to secure major philanthropic support.
- Actively manages a portfolio of individual donor prospects capable of making major gifts while working closely with the Managing Director to create compelling strategies for transformational gifts.
- Execute annual fundraising plan including individual giving, direct mail, special events, employee giving, planned giving and an endowment strategy for the organization.
- Execute annual direct mail plan campaign
- Execute Dallas Foundation special events
- Execute employee giving program
- Manage donor recognition/appreciation activities and events. Support planned giving program and endowment strategies.
- Build volunteer group to assist in fundraising activities, special events and other Foundation programs and events.
- Provide support to the Managing Director in identifying and developing strategies, SOPs and KPIs that positively impact or improve the Envision Dallas Foundation output and viability.
- Maintain professional contact with other institutions, associations, and organizations where collaboration and networking are of benefit to both parties.
- Apprise the Managing Director appropriately in major and principal gift activity, preparing information, keeping in constant communication, and guiding solicitation and stewarding opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with Envisions Marketing Team to prepare printed materials, as appropriate.
- Oversee efforts for recruitment, development, and performance evaluation of employees.
- Actively participate in the annual strategic planning process to include budgeting, monthly business reviews and other financial metrics as required.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintain compliance with established safety policies and procedures.
- Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
Education: Bachelors degree required
Experience: Minimum of 6 years proven experience in fund raising/development or sales as well as managerial/administrative oversight. Related experience may be substituted.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of donor database management systems.
- Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport with donors, volunteers and the public with diplomacy, discretion, and customer-service orientation.
