Brief Description of the Job
Coordinates tasks of temporary Bus Servicers, overseeing cleaning and maintenance of buses and facilities and monitoring for quality assurance. Coordinates the cleaning of the inside and outside of transit vehicles using pressure washers, special chemicals, mops, and brooms. Cleans, repairs, and maintains shop equipment. Cleans office space and bathrooms of maintenance facility. Performs all bus service and facility cleaning tasks as necessary in the absence of temporary Bus Servicers. Recommends supply purchases. Ensures that all transit vehicles are fueled as necessary. Oversees the fueling and fluids check for all transit vehicles as necessary. Performs clerical responsibilities. Assures security of the vaults and the accuracy of the fare box probe. Picks up and delivers buses as needed. Records tread depth and tire pressure on all buses at specified intervals through the Tire Check Program. Serve as a subject matter expert on the Accident Review Committee and Greenlink`s Safety Committee as required.

Job Duties

Essential Functions
Coordinate and Oversee Cleaning and Maintenance of Buses (60%): Coordinate tasks of temporary Bus Servicers in the cleaning of transit vehicles and facilities. Train all temporary Bus Servicers in proper cleaning techniques, proper use of chemicals and proper use of PPE. Coordinate the cleaning of the inside and outside of the transit garage building, including sweeping and removing all trash, emptying trash into dumpster, mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, replacing paper products, and waxing and stripping linoleum floors. Operate vector bus washer, foam cannon, seat cleaner, and vacuum as necessary. Clean blood borne pathogen contaminated areas. Oversee the fueling and fluids check for all transit vehicles as necessary. Add fluids as necessary. Use the Tire Check program to measure the tread depth and psi of all buses at regular intervals. Support management in the implementation and continuous improvement of Safety Management System processes and activities. Monitor compliance with Greenlink`s Agency Safety Plan. Document safety issues or concerns directly observed or reported by front-line employees.

Perform Recordkeeping and Clerical Responsibilities (20%): Maintain accurate records of hub meter, odometer, and engine hour meter, vehicle service records, and fuel dispense records, and fluid use records. Ensure the accuracy of mileage and dispensed fuel records. Supervise and remove fare box vaults and probe fare box at the end of each day of operation. Maintain chemical mixing rates. Maintain bus detail records. Recommend supply purchases. Comply with vault room security procedures. Ensure that fare box vaults and probe fare boxes are properly removed at the end of each day of operation. Assure security of the vaults and the accuracy of collection. Assist in the management of payroll for temporary Bus Servicers. Ensure all keys are collected and placed on key board at end of day.

Clean & Maintain Facility (10%): Coordinate and assist in the cleaning of the inside and outside of the transit garage building. Clean office space and bathrooms of maintenance facility. Dust blinds and furniture. Remove stains and spots. Ensure trash cans in office area are emptied as needed. Restock bathroom supplies as needed. Maintain exterior of building by picking up litter, sweeping walkways, cleaning windows, etc. Coordinate and perform maintenance tasks such as minor painting of the building and equipment and performing minor repairs on the facility.

Transport Buses (10%): Move spare bus from transfer station to shop nightly. Move buses through cleaning line and eventual parking nightly. Move buses to outside repair shop.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Job Requirements
Formal Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: Over one year up to and including two years of experience of custodial or vehicle-detailing experience is required.

Driver`s License Required: Must have or obtain a valid Class B with Passenger endorsement South Carolina Commercial Learner`s Permit within 3 weeks of hire. Must have or obtain corresponding CDL Class B with Passenger endorsement within 3 months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge: Work requires a comprehensive practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making. Must be able to exercise independent thinking and the ability to conceptualize and develop new or improved procedures, techniques or ideas appropriate to the work environment. Work product primarily affects unit processes.

Reading: Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals and policies.

Math: Ability to deal with a system of real numbers; and practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement.

Writing: Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, summaries, meeting minutes, and emails using proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, and Work Aids: Pressure washer, foam cannon, chemical dilution system, hand tools, electrical power tools, pneumatic power tools, upholstery cleaning machine, mobile bus washing machine, wet/dry shop vac, tire check tread depth gauge and pressure gauge, and manual hand pumps. Desktop, laptop, smart phone and RTA shop manager.

Working Conditions
Primary Work Location: Shop`s wash bay.

Environmental/Health and Safety Factors: Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. Daily exposure to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, and physical hazards. Constant exposure to mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, communicable diseases, and physical danger or abuse. Frequent exposure to fire hazards and explosives.

Protective Equipment Required: Steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, earplugs, gloves, chemical apron, and splash proof goggles.

Physical Demands
Continuously requires standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, balancing, bending, hearing, twisting, and talking. Frequently requires handling, crawling, foot controls, and crouching. Occasionally requires sitting. Heavy strength demands include exerting 50-100 pounds occasionally, 25-50 pounds frequently, or from 10 up to 20 pounds constantly.

Mental Demands
Frequently requires time pressures, frequent change of tasks, irregular schedule/overtime, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, working closely with others as part of a team, tedious or exacting work, and noisy/distracting environment. Occasionally requires working during emergencies.
