SUMMARY DESCRIPTION The Plant Manager is responsible for directing the overall plant operations to obtain optimum efficiency and maximize profits. Responsibilities include administration, engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing and planning, process development, finance, facilities and EH&S. The incumbent is accountable to the Senior Director of Operations for the achieving profit/loss goals and the attainment of current and long-term objectives.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED Under direct supervision of Senior Director of Operations
SUPERVISION EXERCISED Direct supervision of plant functional managers. Indirect supervision of finance manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Responsible for all manufacturing operations. Provides guidance and leadership to all plant personnel. Supervises, motivates and directs employees to obtain optimal productivity. Ensures effective staffing, training, development of the organization as well as develops succession plans for future growth and stability. Responds to production problems and pursues / implements remedies to such problems. Develops, manages and tracks operational metrics for the plant. Responsible for overseeing Quality Assurance and Quality Control to ensure compliance. Ensures adherence and compliance with all company policies, procedures and practices of all plant personnel. Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction. Participates on due diligence teams to evaluate potential acquisitions, when requested. Responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels of finished goods, work in process and raw materials. Acts as Operations liaison with our OEM customers. Ensures new product introductions are supported and executed to the established project plans. Assumes responsibility for costs, cost saving initiatives, methods, and budgets. Works with Corporate departments to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Provides short and long term objectives for the plant and executes to those objectives. Promotes constant and effective communication channels at all levels to maintain a stable and productive work climate. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
Bachelors Degree required. MBA preferred 10 to 15 years of general management experience in the medical device industry. Effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to interface with production and supervisory personnel. Ability to work in a Total Quality Management/Continuous Improvement environment. Knowledgeable in the following areas: Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) Statistical Process Control/Defect tracking Project management Food and Drug Administration (FDA), International Standards Organization (IS), and other nations regulatory requirements Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office software.
