Job summary: A modeling and simulation optical engineer will be responsible for supporting a wide range of programs for design development, data reduction and integration and test verification.
Experience Requirements/Skills: Candidates must have core knowledge of optical systems and able to apply modeling and simulation techniques using tools such as Matlab, C++, or Fortran and with industry software including CodeV, Paraxia, FRED, or TracePro toward complex optical systems. Candidates should also have a broad understanding of EO/IR sensors, LIDAR/LADAR techniques, and laser physics. A general working knowledge of Monte Carlo simulation, discrete event simulation, signal processing, probability and statistics and software design principles is required. Candidates familiar with beam propagation and atmospheric attenuation and scatter models, as well as surface reflectivity and absorption models is highly desired. Candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to work in an integrated product team environment.
Educational Requirements: Candidate must have 4+ years of experience in optical modeling and simulation with a BS/BA degree. MS degree with 2+ years of related experience.
Special requirements: Candidates must be eligible for a DOD security clearance which requires US Citizenship.
