This is a 1st shift position!
The Lead is responsible for supervising the Operations staff at the facility, including Thermoforming Operators, Extrusion Operators, Forklift Operators and Packers. The role ensures timely completion of all required activities in support of the operation. The Lead will also have responsibilities for manufacturing and packaging of thermoformed plastics food containers and other according to specifications.
Responsible for leading and directing the operations staff for a specific shift.
Ensures quality production standards are maintained.
Maintains Company policies and procedures and serves as a knowledgeable resource relative to those policies. Ensures compliance with all company required policies, procedures and processes including but not limited to required training.
Prepares management reports as required.
Responsible for safety, quality and compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
Ensures that all products are coded according to Company procedures.
Conducts inventory of Company products and to ensure proper usage and minimization of waste.
Works with management staff to improve performance of the unit
Responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and preparing corrective action for employees and liaises appropriately with Human Resources and other support functions.
Manages work flow balancing - - the division of responsibilities among employees on specific shift.
Determines when and whether to call employees in to cover staffing needs (ex. sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves, volume changes, etc.)
In conjunction with department leaders determines number of employees needed by shift.
Ensures compliance with company Wage & Hour policy, including ensuring employees get the rest and meal breaks and ensuring company processes are followed.
Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labor and expenses.
Monitors daily manpower planning and schedules employees.
Responsible for employee retention and reducing employee turnover.
Responsible for coaching, counseling and preparing corrective actions for employees.
Operates thermoforming machines and annex equipment efficiently. Sets up and adjusts reel, machines and peripherals. Reports unsafe situations and exercises safe operation
Solves production issues
Finishes goods for internal transport
Prepares raw materials / materials not processed for transport / storage
Checks production according to recipe / specifications
Operates automation systems (if applicable)
Supports extrusion process. Labels boxes and identifies product
Fills production cards and quality control forms
Checks product quality, reports quality issues, resolves quality issues and ensures traceability
Cleans the work environment
Technical education equivalent to secondary/ college level. Mechanical degree is a plus.
2+ years supervisory experience working in a high volume, manufacturing environment or equivalent experience in the related field preferred
At least one-year experience in thermoforming processes, or at least a similar process
Flexibility in operating in different shifts is a plus
Language / Communication Skills:
Computer skills to operate software and communicate electronically
