Safety Manager

Job Location: Waukau, WI
Our well established Wausau area client is in need of a Safety Manager to join their team. This position is responsible for managing all safety programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor all Safety program, policies, procedures and laws/regulations.
  • Act as a resource for all employees for their safety concerns by responding in a timely manner.
  • Establish and promote the maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions, and recommend measures to reduce or eliminate accident and health hazards in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Manage workers comp process, programs and compliance, to include tracking injuries and accident statistics and reports.
  • Assist in the investigation of all accidents by gathering all pertinent facts, interviewing witnesses, reviewing reports concerning the incident in cooperation with operations personnel and occupational health coordinator.
  • May represent the company in hearings, insurance investigations and OSHA informal hearings.
  • Work with company and operations leadership to drive safety culture and change.
  • Monitor and manage all local, state and federal regulatory rules and regulations in the area of safety.
  • Conduct safety training for multiple plants and ensure all Job Safety Analysis and safety training materials are kept up to date.
  • Participate in corporate safety audits.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of needed safety items.
  • Apply lean principles and drive lean applications in company operations.
  • Bachelors degree in a related discipline required – preferably in Industrial Hygiene.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in safety in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of current OSHA practices and regulations.
  • Experience with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills – technical writing experience preferred.
  • Background in First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
