Energy client is looking for an Environmental Technician/Specialist with 3-5+ years of hands-on environmental experience in an operating power plant. This position is located near Los Angeles, CA and will require minimal travel (10-15%) to other plants in the area. You must be knowledgeable in CA environmental laws, regulations and compliance issues. This is a hands-on, technical position (college degree not required) and you may be asked to learn some operational responsibilities and cross-train in different areas. You must have strong background with environmental reporting systems (CEMS, DAHS). The ideal candidate will be someone that worked as a Control Room Operator or Technician and then moved into and Environmental Specialist role. Responsibilities:
-> Work in the EH&S department and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with permit conditions & regulatory requirements for plants in CA -> Primary focus will be on compliance and regulatory reporting as required by Federal and State of California permits -> You will also work with plant personnel in setting up instruments to gather environmental data needed to ensure compliance -> Monitor CEMS and DAHS, provide reporting data to the Vice President ? EHS and Plant Managers as required to facilitate timely reporting -> Responsible for regulatory and compliance reporting in CA -> Assist with compliance, including but not limited to audits, at the plants to assess compliance with laws, regulations, & company standards
Requirements:
-> Experience in operating and maintaining CEMS and DAHS, with the ability to train and coordinate others -> Knowledge of Title V, acid rain and other environmental permits in CA -> Experience in regulatory reporting to comply with environmental permits in CA -> Familiarity and experience with SQL databases a PLUS
