Responsibilities:
-> Supervise / manage VSAT department including VSAT systems, continuity of VSAT services, management of staff (2 direct reports and many non-direct) and supplier and 3rd party vendor relations
-> Implement company goals for the VSAT product and provide technical leadership and project coordination (I.E. this is a HANDS ON position)
-> Forecast costs, equipment and personnel needs for projects and programs related to VSAT projects
-> Prepare long and short-range plans for systems development and related resource acquisition
-> Develop and maintain VSAT systems disaster recovery plan
-> Stay abreast of the latest developments in VSAT technology, networking, VPN and VOIP over the unique VSAT network environment
-> Capture, monitor and analyze VSAT usage data through iMonitor and recommend and implement appropriate traffic profile changes
-> Set up network monitoring tools such as NAGIOS
Requirements:
-> BS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
-> 5+ years experience with VSAT and Network systems, including sizing VSAT networks and understanding Link Budgets
-> Good HANDS ON understanding of current platforms and trends in VSAT technology
-> iDirect experience using iBuilder, making option files, understands QoS and Group QoS
-> Experience with Mobile VSAT like SeaTel or Orbit (A BIG PLUS)
-> The ability to fully administer Active Directory, DNS, 2003 Server, DHCP, and related server protocols
-> Linux networking
-> In depth knowledge of network security and firewall technology
-> Switching and routing configuration and protocols / VLAN
-> VPN and WAN configuration and administration
-> VOIP networking and solutions
-> Ability to exercise strong judgment in analyzing, appraising, evaluating and solving problems of a difficult procedural, organizational, administrative or technical nature
