Position Summary
Koch Pipeline Company, L.P. is looking for an Automation Technician who will be responsible for the development and oversight of all control and measurement devices used by the Southern Operations Group.
This will include overall responsibility for the specification, installation, programming, and maintenance of all new and existing PLC's, Flow computers, Motors, Electrical, and Communications equipment used for pipeline stations and SCADA systems in the field.
Will be responsible for coordinating with Northern Operations Group to ensure continuity and compatibility of design and equipment specifications through out all KPL systems.
This collaboration will lead to consistent processes and procedures that improve over all environmental and business measures for KPL.
Will work directly with field technicians to help improve their over all skill.
Will share knowledge of new processes and technology that will improve field technician’s performance.
Responsible for oversight and continued development of one or more of the KPL Technical Guidelines, along with responsibility for overall implementation and progress of integrity and reliability program as it relates to Instrumentation & Electrical equipment, with the expectation that implementation of processes and guidelines will improve environmental and reliability performance of all KPL assets.
Requirements
* 3+ years work experience programming / configuring PLC's , flow computers, and SCADA communication devices using Ethernet, Modbus, etc.
* 12 months work experience installing and maintaining electrical starters and switch gear from 480 VAC through 4160 VAC.
* 2 months experience working on all types of industrial electrical and electronic equipment including but not limited to motors, valves, actuators, meters, transmitters, flow computers and PLC equipment.
* 12 months experience with electrical troubleshooting, including ability to read blueprints.
* Ability to understand and apply the National Electrical Code
* 12 months experience in electrical safety, including but not limited to OSHA and NFPA 70E
* 2 year technical (electrical) degree OR a High School diploma (or equivalent) and 4 years of relevant field experience.
Preferred:
* 5 - 10 years work experience programming / configuring PLC's , flow computers, and SCADA communication devices.
* 5 - 10 years work experience installing and maintaining electrical starters and switch gear from 480 VAC through 4160 VAC.
* Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Science Degree
Other Considerations:
* Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment in designated areas (Hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, fire retardant clothing, heeled boots, etc.).
* Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs frequently
* Ability to work in hot, cold or inclement climate conditions (outdoor conditions)
* Up to 30% travel required, including overnight travel. Must be able to travel on short notice in order to respond to failures. Travel may involve long hours of driving to reach work locations. Travel will mostly be limited to the southern geographical area.
* Must be able to respond to calls 24/7 for emergency response
* Must be able to be in a rotational on-call status
* Position requires the ability to wear respirator and to pass a respirator fit test.
* Walking and climbing of ladders or stairs is required
* Ability to work overtime as needed
* Must possess a valid driver's license.
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, DOT drug screen, and pre-hire HAZWOPER physical.
* This position requires access to a facility subject to Department of Homeland Security / TSA credentialing program.
