Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Human Dynamics Researcher.
Responsibilities
Required: PhD in Computer Science, Cognitive Science, or related field. Experience in design and implementation for human interaction with complex systems. Record of success in acquiring funding for R&D in this area. Demonstrated thought leader in the Human Dynamics arena as demonstrated through publications. Interest in developing and nurturing a new R&D area within a recognized research organization.
Desired: Experience with machine learning algorithm development. Systems development experience. Experience in an application area relevant to the Laboratory's mission, for example in command and control, spacecraft operations, intelligence analysis, or autonomous vehicles.
Qualifications
Lead research in areas of social network analysis and modeling with an emphasis on machine learning and pattern classification. Help to grow a funded research program in Human Dynamics and human-system interaction. Work with programs across the Laboratory to understand their Human Dynamics challenges. Participate in Laboratory strategic planning for science and technology. Conduct research in machine learning and pattern classification with complex systems and with massive information collections. Provide R&D, engineering, and design support in the construction of interactive systems for users in a wide range of application domains. Support and lead grant proposal efforts. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peer external organizations. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peer external organizations.
Security
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
