Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Learning Consultant: Organization Development Specialist.
Responsibilities
Provide professional level support to design, develop and implement effective learning initiatives and organization development solutions aligned to the mission and strategy of APL. Review current program offerings seeking to determine their levels of impact and recommend changes. Establish relationships with key members of the APL community and foster relationships to enhance the credibility of the learning and development function.
Develop, deliver, and evaluate new and existing classroom and self-paced programs and resources. Initial foci will include: leading organization development initiatives, creating executive coaching assessments/assignments; improving the multi-rater Supervisory Feedback Process (SFP); leading a team to develop learning resources for the new Critical Success Factors in the performance management system. Consult with team members, HR Generalists, internal content experts, and external training consultants to develop and deliver effective organization development solutions, as well as training and development resources. Assist in promoting a common set of organization development tools and an effective consulting model. Instruct and facilitate classroom and virtual training sessions. Oversee the administration of contracts, websites, files, and archives related to these duties.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in related area (Adult Learning, Organization Development, Psychology, Human Systems and others) or equivalent years of professional work experience. Minimum 8 years of experience in needs assessment, curriculum development, instructional delivery, and program evaluation methodologies; at least 5 years of which should be in designing and facilitating managerial and leadership effectiveness experiences in an organization setting. Ability to translate strategy into specific goals and deliverables.
Experience in organization design and systems, research methods, and change management. Demonstrated results to innovate in the area of training and development. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective consulting skills; good organizational, administrative, and computer skills.
Desired: Master's degree strongly preferred. Experience with the following: working with engineers and scientists in a technical environment; as a Human Resources generalist (demonstrated); and managing multi-rater feedback programs, leadership/management development programs, mentoring programs, instructional technologies (such as off-the-shelf libraries of online learning courses), and website development administration. Familiarity with training metrics, training registration databases, tuition assistance programs, and career development.
