Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Lunar and Mercury Post Doctoral Fellow.
Responsibilities
Postdoctoral researcher to assist in modeling, data analysis and scientific interpretation of planetary science data, with an emphasis on gamma-ray and neutron spectroscopy data. Modeling, analysis, and interpretation of orbital gamma-ray and neutron spectroscopy data from the MESSENGER mission, as well as other planetary gamma-ray and neutron datasets (e.g., Lunar Prospector). Carry out research on planetary science objectives associated with modeling and data analysis of the lunar polar regions thought to contain enhanced hydrogen abundances. Develop new areas of research, mission concepts or instrumentation for purpose of furthering robotic investigations of planets, satellites and asteroids. Support APL mission and instrument studies and proposal efforts.
Qualifications
Required: PhD in Planetary Geology, Planetary Physics or related field.
Desired: Good communication skills.
