Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Parametric Cost Engineer/Modeling.
Responsibilities
Support Space Department and business area cost engineering analyses, parametric estimates and statistical modeling efforts for space missions systems. Prepare risk-adjusted parametric cost & engineering model estimates for space missions--spanning spacecraft, payloads and their subsystems; instrumentation and payloads, software development and operations. Perform risk-adjusted regression analysis and mathematical studies to determine independent cost estimates for Space Department Programs and Proposals. Work with instrument lead engineers and senior cost engineers to develop cost models for space instrument proposals and on-going programs. Support system engineering and cost estimating disciplines through data analysis, engineering support, and make/buy decisions.
Qualifications
Required: BS or equivalent. Minimum 2-3 years experience in parametric cost estimating, systems engineering, and risk analysis. Demonstrated oral and written communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, and analytical skills. Highly motivated self-starter, capable of independent operations and attention to detail. Excellent MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint proficiency. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment. Occasional overtime required.
Desired: Masters Degree (or coursework) in engineering, mathematics, or statistics. Knowledge of NASA cost/schedule/risk/earned-value initiatives. Space-mission-specific parametric cost models including NAFCOM, SSCM, USCM. Knowledge of spacecraft subsystem architecture and payload composition. Previous experience developing and testing cost exhibits and cost models required by government solicitations. Knowledge of space system integration and test engineering principles. Knowledge of NASA Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
Security
