Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Spacecraft RF Communication Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development located in Laurel, MD, seeks a Spacecraft RF Communications Systems Engineer to perform RF systems level design, analysis and trade studies for NASA and DoD customers.

* Perform spacecraft RF communication systems design, analysis, and implementation.
* Perform systems design, link analysis, hardware trade studies, technology tradeoffs, and costing for spacecraft design concepts.
* Implement spacecraft communication systems by providing technical leadership over a team of engineers and support staff. Support on-orbit operations and data trending on a pert-time basis for near-Earth and deep space missions.
* Support spacecraft proposal development.

Qualifications

Required:
  • BS degree in electrical engineering with 10 or more years of direct experience with RF communication systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of the principles of digital communication theory.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership traits such as strong technical capability, clear thinking, good interpersonal skills, and effective communication skills.
Desired:
  • MS degree and 15 years experience with near-Earth or deep space mission RF communication system development is desired.
  • A background in detailed RF hardware development is desired.
  • Experience in the NASA and/or DoD communities.
Security
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
