Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Spacecraft RF Communication Systems Engineer.
Responsibilities
Perform spacecraft RF communication systems design, analysis, and implementation. Perform systems design, link analysis, hardware trade studies, technology tradeoffs, and costing for spacecraft design concepts. Implement spacecraft communication systems by providing technical leadership over a team of engineers and support staff. Support on-orbit operations and data trending on a part-time basis for near-Earth and deep space missions. Support spacecraft proposal development.
Qualifications
Required: BS degree in electrical engineering with 3 or more years of direct experience with RF communication systems. Strong working knowledge of the principles of digital communication theory. Excellent writing skills. Demonstrated leadership traits such as strong technical capability, clear thinking, good interpersonal skills, effective communications skills.
Desired: MS degree and 10 years experience with near-Earth or deep space mission RF communication system development is highly desired. A background in detailed RF hardware development is desired. Experience in the NASA and/or DoD communities.
Security
