Introduction:
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a RF Hardware Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Develop novel RF communications technologies. Assist in the design, test and evaluation of prototype hardware for the intelligence community. Assist in the development of portable communications devices, starting with the evaluation of commercially available RF chipsets, and then integrating selected components at the board-level with other analog, power, and embedded processor parts to form a complete module. Assist in the development of embedded antenna technologies, including computer-aided design and chamber testing. Support evaluation of prototype devices through bench and field testing. Contribute to the broader intelligence-based tasks of the RF Signal Technologies group.
Qualifications:
Required: B.S. in electrical engineering or physics. Ability to work effectively in small teams. Good communication and presentation skills.
Desired: Courses in RF/analog circuit and antenna design. Working knowledge of board layout tools such as ORCAD, Eagle or Mentor. Familiarity with circuit and electromagnetic design software such as SPICE, ADS, and ANSOFT (HFSS, Designer, Ensemble).
Special Work Conditions:
Must be eligible for DOD clearance requiring background investigation and/or polygraph. Preference for SSBI. Clearance required by contract H98230-04-C-1702.
Security:
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
