Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Embedded Signal Processing Engineer to design, develop, and test custom high data-rate GNSS recorders and signal processing systems for use in analyzing the performance of missile systems.
Responsibilities
Implement signal processing algorithms for processing various types of communication signals
Develop and implement VHDL firmware for FPGA-based applications.
Program both embedded and PC-based processors using C++ and other programming techniques
Perform system-level design of recording and GPS tracking systems.
Travel to support field tests of systems.
Qualifications
Required:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) incl. Digital Signal Processing.
2-3 years experience developing signal processing algorithms.
2-3 years FPGA design experience with VHDL.
2-3 years C/C++ programming experience.
Strong personal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Able to multitask between multiple projects
Desired:
M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Engineering Science.
Working knowledge of GPS processing systems.
Programming and analysis experience with MATLAB.
Willingness to lead small projects comprised of similarly experienced engineers.
Special Work Conditions
This job requires occasional travel to remote locations.
