Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Cyber Engineer.

Responsibilities
Develop and utilize a detailed understanding of computer network and security concepts to create novel approaches to solving computer security systems challenges. Create unique systems capabilities that demonstrate novel computer network operations concepts. Test the developed capabilities to ensure that requirements are met. Analyze the properties of the developed approaches (e.g., performance, effectiveness) to demonstrate their ability to meet sponsor requirements. Use APL and sponsor testbed environments and/or modeling and simulation to perform assessments. Document and present developed capabilities (e.g., system descriptions, effectiveness assessments, and prototype demonstrations).

Qualifications
Required:
BS Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 2+ years experience. Demonstrated experience with network protocols and systems. Demonstrated programming capability. Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions to research problems. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, outstanding written and oral communications skills, good organizational skills. Desired: MS Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 5+ years experience. Familiarity with computer/network security concepts. Programming experience in Assembly and C. Working knowledge of computer network vulnerabilities and exploits. Experience with computer network modeling. Experience developing computer network models using OPNET modeler.
