The Clinical Educator is responsible for orientation of new staff to the Womens Services units. The Clinical Educator is responsible for developing, teaching and evaluating education for the departments. In addition, the Clinical Educator performs direct patient care to the Labor/Delivery, M/B, and Nursery Units. This position has exposure to body fluids, radiation and communicable disease. The majority of work time is spent standing and/or walking of short distances (up to 60% of work time), with frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of up to 100 lbs. (up to 20 % o work time), and with frequent carrying of up to 50 lbs (up to 20% of work time). A culturally and linguistically diverse patient population is served including well newborns, intermediate and intensive care newborns, as well as adult and adolescent mothers.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED Arkansas RN license or licensed in a state that has enacted the RN/LPN NLC, and NRP, CPR
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED This position requires a good working knowledge of clinical nursing practices as usually demonstrated by a minimum of three years of clinical nursing, at least two of those years being in an area of similar specialty to the unit. Demonstrated teaching & leadership ability, and the ability to develop, deliver and evaluate training information is required. STABLE Instructor certification is preferred. RN required; BSN / Masters degree preferred. A national certification or actively pursuing a national certification in the specialty-area is highly encouraged.
