Position Overview:
Assists physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization peripheral vascular and pacemaker procedures. Provides nursing care to patients both care delivered personally and the care provided by members of the team to which care is delegated.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES JOB DUTIES AND PROJECTS:
1. Scrubs circulated monitors and recovers patients for diagnostic and interventional cardiac/peripheral procedures/interventions.
2. Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation understanding and allay apprehension. Provides patient care to promote quality care through interactions with others responsive to needs and proper utilization of resources. Gives patient instruction before during and after procedure.
3. Provides teaching/information for patients/families based on identified needs congruent with resources and accurate up to day information.
4. Demonstrates competency in operation and usage of all equipment and supplies in department.
5. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing policy.
6. Documents care according to policy.
7. Performs exams and procedures accurately according to established procedure or physician's instructions.
8. Follows radiation safety infection control and universal precaution policies.
9. Contributes to the quality improvement plan for the department and hospital.
10. Performs tasks efficiently and uses time effectively when patient volume is low; willingly accepts task assignments and schedule changes as needed.
11. Assists with training of new employees and students.
12. Maintains accurate patient and department records.
13. Participation in cross-training and team performance is absolute promotes teamwork through collaboration and role modeling.
14. Inventories orders restocks cleans and maintains working condition of equipment and/or supplies needed for patient care.
15. Functions as a member of on-call team as assigned.
16. Provides call back service according to procedure and responds to callbacks in a professional manner and is available within the required time (STATS 30 minutes).
17. Interacts and communicates effectively with co-workers medical staff and other departments and management.
18. Shares input on improving department processes/systems and providing cost effective patient care.
19. Assists with all aspects of Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac and Peripheral Cath Vascular/Pacemaker/Interventional procedures as assigned.
Education Requirements:
This position requires at least one of the following: Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college in radiology or nursing or equivalent training and experience.
Experience Requirements:
Critical emergent or procedural experience preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/ REGISTRATION:
Current Kansas nursing license or Radiology Technology certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. CCRN or RT(R) (CV) desirable.
