POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for evaluation directing and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment to patients upon the referral by a licensed physician dentist or podiatrist. Administers treatments and physical agents in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury disease or physical disability and promote wellness. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Provides input in formulating budget assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered in a timely manner. Participates in all infection control organizational safety and fire safety programs. Pursues continuing education and participates in staff competency training to ensure high quality care.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Performs evaluations and establishes the physical therapy plan of care.
* Provides or directs and supervises the physical therapy interventions consistent with the evaluation diagnosis prognosis and plan of care.
* Communicates/Coordinates and documents effectively.
* Promotes and supports all Wamego City Hospital standards of quality customer service.
* Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance.
Education Requirements: Graduate of an approved school of physical therapy. Current State of Kansas Registration as a Physical Therapist or temporary permit. Current BCLS certification. Experience Requirements: Six months of hospital based physical therapy preferred. This can be as part of the clinical affiliations.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology. Knowledge in physical therapy machine operations and maintenance. Basic computer knowledge. Strong verbal and written language skills. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Competency skill checklist must be done within two months of hire date.
