Description:
The University of Arkansas, a Tier 1, Land Grant institution valuing excellence in research, teaching, and outreach, seeks an assistant or associate professor in the area of child development. This is a 9-month, tenure track position in a state recognized nationally for its early childhood initiatives. The position is located in the Human Development, Family Sciences, and Rural Sociology area of the School of Human Environmental Sciences.

Responsibilities:

Position responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses with emphasis on the early childhood period, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, developing a strong research program in early childhood, competing for extra-mural funding, and providing service to the area, school, university, and community.

Qualifications:

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in child development, human development or a directly related discipline at the time of appointment. Applicants for the Assistant Professor rank should demonstrate substantial research potential and experience in teaching; candidates for the Associate Professor rank should have a mature research program and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Evidence of ability to conduct high quality research, compete for extra-mural funding, and to work within the Land Grant model are required. Substantive experience in teaching, research, and outreach in the early childhood period will be given preference. Previous successful experience in the NCATE accreditation process and new course development are desirable.
