The University of Arkansas is located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, a thriving city in the northwest corner of the state. In the heart of the Ozark Mountains, the city boasts a lively cultural scene and easy access to outdoor recreation. With a population of nearly 70,000, Fayetteville has been named "One of America's Most Livable Cities," one of the "Top 10 Places to Retire," one of the "Best Cities to Live, Work, and Play," and among the "Best Places to Live in America". Fayetteville is central to larger metropolitan areas, including Dallas/Fort Worth, Kansas City, Little Rock, Memphis, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa, while its temperate climate ensures distinct, beautiful seasons. The Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport has direct jet service to numerous airline hubs and large cities including Los Angeles, New York,Minneapolis, Houston, Atlanta, and Chicago.

In addition to a wide range of graduate degrees, including the Master's, the Education Specialist, the Doctor of Education, Doctor of Philosophy, and the Juris Doctorate, The University of Arkansas offers 83 bachelor's degrees in 74 fields of study in 10 colleges and schools. Qualified students from all undergraduate programs may participate in the Honors program and are eligible for fellowships, scholarships, and grants offered by the Honors College. Faculty are encouraged to pursue interdisciplinary collaboration through funding opportunities available in the Graduate School and Honors College.

The Department administers an accredited five-year Bachelor of architecture program and a four-year Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies program. Parallel programs are administered by the Department of Landscape Architecture. The recent NAAB Team stated, "Design is clearly the focus of the program, with innovative studio instruction producing comprehensive and handsome results. The program has emerged with an effective curriculum that has benefited from well considered horizontal and vertical connections to achieve synergy between design and technology." Distinctions include programs of study at the U. of A. Rome Center and at the Barragán Studio in Mexico City, as well as the internationally acclaimed Community Design Center in downtown Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Minimum Requirements:
Candidates should hold a Master of Architecture, PhD, or an equivalent advanced post-professional degree in architecture or an allied field.

Preferred Qualifications:
Consideration will be extended to candidates with an interest in, commitment to, and enthusiasm for multidisciplinary teaching and research.

Job Duties:
Candidates will be expected to teach design studio, as well as a seminar, lecture, or workshop course each semester, in addition to pursuing research, practice, or creative work, and contributing to curricular development through academic service.
