Tulsa Metro Chamber, with 2,800+ members, is the principal business-driven leadership organization focused on improving the quality of community life through the development of regional economic prosperity for the Tulsa MSA of almost 900,000 people. Chamber has 50 staff, 80+ member Board, 1,700 volunteers and offers outstanding economic development, advocacy, membership, young professionals, small business, minority business, education and community betterment programs plus Tulsa CVB and Sports Commission. Tulsa Metro Chamber was just honored as "Chamber of the Year" in $1MM+ dues category at American Chamber of Commerce Executives annual convention.

Tulsa’s Future, formed in 2005, is a privately funded regional economic development plan, with a five year goal to create 10,000 primary high-value jobs. By FYE2007, Tulsa’s Future had quantified 4,800+ new high-value jobs and 4,500+ indirect new jobs. As the Chamber’s economic development program, Tulsa’s Future is led by 19-member CEO-level volunteer Oversight Committee and staffed by Chamber’s Senior Vice President-Economic Development and 6-person economic development team. Plan has been solidly funded by $9+MM from corporate investors and $1MM from local government and “Tulsa’s Future II” will be launched Fall 2008. Energy industry is a key driver of regional and state economies with aerospace, healthcare, professional services, manufacturing and distribution as key industry clusters with information security and tourism as emerging targets. Forbes in 2007 rated Tulsa as #6 best city for jobs among 100 largest U.S. metro areas and cost of doing business is 8% under U.S. average. Tulsa has outstanding quality of life with employment opportunity, minimal commutes, residential options, varied climate and geography and thriving arts, culture, entertainment and recreation and strong educational institutions.

Senior Vice President-Economic Development reports to President & CEO with 6 staff. Key member of Chamber executive leadership team and works closely with Tulsa’s Future Oversight Committee, Chamber Board and many volunteers, along with elected officials and staff at local, County, State and Federal levels, community leaders, site selectors and representatives of prospects, university officials and Chamber member organizations. Responsible for all aspects of Tulsa’s Future economic development program at the strategic and operational level.

Requirements
Ideal candidate is currently serving as Senior Vice President/Vice President-Economic Development or other “#2” who serves as top economic development leader of chamber or larger economic development organization; CEO of comparable/smaller public-private economic development focused organization; executive from a state, county or city economic development department; economic development professional from a major utility; private sector executive with a strong background in development. Bachelors required; advanced degree preferred; CEcD highly desirable.
