JOB SUMMARY:
Achieves sales revenue and earnings goals consistent with Product Line objectives for the year. Identifies opportunities for new business, develops new accounts and manages assigned customer accounts. Facilitates communications, both internal and external, to ensure that customer needs are met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Seeks business opportunities by interviewing customers and colleagues in other regions or business lines;
• Presents information to management to determine account potential, whether the customer philosophy fits with Company’s goals and objectives, if there are synergies with other products and whether account will be targeted. Participates in developing account strategies.
• Obtains, compiles and organizes information needed to prepare proposals. Identifies financial or safety benefits for customer, new applications for existing products and positive performance histories with products and services. Obtains and communicates information related to industry trends, competitors, and projected future business.
• Works with customer staff to obtain training specifications, ensuring that the needs and expectations of the customer are clarified and communicated.
• Prepares and makes sales presentations focusing on value to customer and coordinates visits from technical staff and upper level management to customer where necessary.
• Utilizes Customer Relationship Management System to maintain current customer profiles including contact information and customer requirements. Prepares monthly reports and internal memos in a timely manner, to communicate and outline opportunities, to take corrective actions to resolve issues before they become problems and to assist with forecasting.
• Keeps abreast of new products, specifications, and industry trends, competitor strengths and weaknesses and communicates new information to colleagues. Attends industry sponsored trade shows and seminars. Communicates potential opportunities to other Comapny locations and business units.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent technical and commercial experience.
Some outside sales experience with aptitude and ability to identify and maximize opportunities and knowledge of value selling techniques.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of potential customers in the target markets within geographical focus area. Knowledge of competitors in target markets, together with an appreciation of their strategies, strengths and weaknesses.
• Knowledge of assigned markets, prices, legislation, suppliers, influences, contract structures.
• Understanding of internal economic factors (cost, margins, profit impact of decisions) and external economic factors affecting assignment areas.
• Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal, verbal, persuasion, presentation, and relationship building skills in order to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external contacts.
• Ability to modify communication and presentation style in order to relate to a variety of people and personalities.
• Must be proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current drivers license from state of residence and proof of vehicle insurance with state liability minimum.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Spends most of time in an office environment. Spends 50% of time in customer office locations. Spends 30% of time coordinating sales activities in market area. Travels up to 30% of time. May be exposed to possible operations hazards including dust, fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, high pressure, hot or cold work temperatures, slippery surfaces, water and electrical hazards.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
Salary is commensurate with experience. As a non-exempt position, overtime of time and one-half the normal hourly rate will be paid for hours worked in excess of 40 in any given work week.
