Summary of Primary Functions:   

Analyzes contract documents, plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to determine costs associated with precast concrete scope by performing essential duties as listed below

Regular use of technological devices

Independent, reports to VP and GM or Senior/Chief Estimator

 Supervisory Responsibilities:

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.

 

Daily:,

1.       Reviews contract documents to determine precast scope of work.  Types of projects would normally include parking garages, warehouses, schools, jails, prisons or other facilities requiring innovative concrete products

2.       Utilize 3-D modeling software to develop schematic model of the precast scope of work.

3.       Perform accurate takeoff of precast components

4.       Utilize Excel spreadsheets to determine plant, freight, and field operations costs associated with the project

5.       Prepares estimates to be used by management, sales, planning, engineering, production and field operations in scheduling work, preparing bids; consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues as requested by Sales personnel

6.       Understands engineering concepts regarding general structural concepts, connections, component limitations, and constructability

7.       Completes duties and responsibilities in the appropriate time frame with minimal supervision

 

As Needed:

8.       Coordinate with others to develop and establish standard hour and related cost reductions

9.       Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to cost estimates

10.   Visualize and/or create 3-D precast concept from 2-D contract drawings

11.   Requests quotes from local and national vendors, and/or from Purchasing, to help develop estimates

12.   Performs additional duties as assigned

 May have access to confidential information including:

Job profiles, costs, and Division financials

 

Requires ability to make independent decisions including:

Make independent decisions regarding projects and then communicate to sales reps and project managers to verify decisions

 

Contacts (Internal and External):

Daily contact with fellow employees in other units of the company, top management, customers and vendors/suppliers

Job Specifications or Qualifications

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registration:  None

 Education:  Associates Degree (2 year) or experience/training or combination

 Experience: 1 to 3 years
