Duties:
Steer complex bioinformatics policy and research as well as stakeholder management among research universities and grant authorities to ensure success of nonprofit research organization. Initiate and co-develop data policy and data management plans for bioinformatics and application of the data process improvements, collaborate with stakeholders such as bioinformaticians, lab members, and directors, including data supervision in terms of data governance, storage, and metadata management and support in the resolution of data related issues. Plan, design and implement documents and change management for bioinformatics processes. Proactively identify roadblocks and modify bioinformatics project plans as the project progresses. Manage and help prepare monthly reporting to the bioinformatics research project's external funder. Maintain bioinformatics project plans and run project stand-ups to coordinate all stakeholders involved in the project, including scientists, data engineers, designers, and developers. The position may include additional duties that utilize the required skills.
Requirements:
- Requires a Master of Science degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field, and at least two years of experience as a Bioinformatics Research Assistant, Consulting Engineer/Bioinformatics, Bioinformatics Data Engineer, Project Lead or a related position working in bioinformatics research, including experience in:
- Initiating and co-development of data policy and data management plans for Bioinformatics and application of the data process improvements, collaborating with stakeholders such as bioinformaticians, lab members, and directors, including data supervision in terms of data governance, storage, and metadata management and support in the resolution of data related issues;
- Planning, designing and implementation of documentation and change management for bioinformatics processes, including project documentation, standard operating procedures, and data dictionaries maintained in tools such as Jira, SharePoint, and Confluence;
- Help coordinate process standardization and versioning best practices for the team, including pipeline releases for a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA)-certified clinical genetics lab and for research genomic applications;
- Collaborate with developers on software configuration and releases, including use of best practices for requirement gathering, code reviews, and documentation, including working with bioinformaticians and IT developers on a genomics data architecture and archiving project to reduce storage costs by optimizing data storage;
- Lead evaluation, testing and help adoption of enterprise emerging technologies such as Hadoop, SAP HANA, Oracle ODI/Endeca, Cloudera and big data architecture for scientific informatics and regulatory data.
Telecommuting permitted up to 100% from any location within the U.S.

Rate of Pay & Benefits: $102,000 ~ $112,000/Year, Benefits include Med+dental+vis+life, LTD & AD&D insurance for employee+family. Opt to enroll in 403b.
