Requirements The Mission Integrated Business Unit currently has an opening for a Kurdish-Sorani Linguist/Translator. The Kurdish-Sorani Linguist/Translator will prioritize, gist, interpret and translate foreign language oral and written products into English, this includes hardcopy, electronic, and multi-media material. The linguist will conduct accurate translations of audio language material and documents in hard copy and electronic formats in a manner that maintains the integrity and meaning of the material. The linguistic team will produce written reports as well provide gists (summarization of key points), detailed summaries, and transcripts of the material.
Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts/Sciences (or related field) and/or equivalent formal military training and 6+ years of related experience.
Required Skills: ** ALL APPLICANTS FOR THIS POSITION MUST POSSESS A CURRENT TOP SECRET/SCI WITH FULL -SCOPE POLY. **
Foreign language proficiency: Kurdish-Sorani. Linguist MUST possess a minimum equivalent proficiency of a DLPT test score 3/3/3 (listening, reading, speaking) within the past twelve months and MUST be able to provide written proof of such. Commercially equivalent scores/testing are acceptable (OPI-Oral Proficiency Interview, etc), but must show equivalency to the Interagency Language Roundtable scoring system. Candidates must be able to write and speak in a clear and concise manner with excellent grammar and pronunciation in Kurdish-Sorani and English. Each Linguist MUST possess technical computer information system skills, at a minimum, word processing and data entry (i.e., MS Office) to be used in conjunction with written translations.
Desired Skills: Military, Cryptologic, Law Enforcement, or Intelligence Community experience preferred. Knowledge and understanding of geopolitical, regional, ethnic and cultural environment in which the language is used is preferred. Linguists with multiple language proficiencies are strongly desired.
