Job Summary:

Organizes, implements, directs and coordinates all pharmacy-related activities of the Family Medicine Residency Program including teaching and evaluation of resident physicians and other post-graduate learners, proper medication selection and monitoring of drug therapy; research and scholarly activity and compliance with all ACGME and other regulatory standards.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:
  • Education: Participates in ongoing teaching, education and training, identifies needs for development and performance improvement, maintains competencies, and provides information as requested.
  • Demonstrates Clinical Pharmacy Practice.
  • Collects and applies clinical data to meet department needs. Identifies needs for data collection. Evaluates data. Provides additional training as necessary. Identifies methods for applying clinical data to patient outcome analysis.
  • Conducts relevant patient drug therapy research within a specialized practice area.
  • Develops a plan for improvement when trends involving individual staff or department processes are identified.
  • Develops monitoring plans. Implements processes to monitor all effects of therapy.
  • Participates effectively on multidisciplinary patient care rounds.
  • Evaluates procedures to assure conformance with applicable standards of practice. Reviews existing procedures on a regular basis. Reports to the department director if/when changes in procedures are required. Reviews appropriate literature and provides a plan for implementation of identified changes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

    Additional Requirements:

    Required:
    Education - Doctorate degree in Pharmacy
    Certification - Pharmacist - South Dakota Board of PharmacyPhysical Requirements:
    Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
