Brief Description of Job Responsibilities:

Plan and conduct a variety of in-service orientation programs, educational programs and educational services for clinical personnel throughout Prevea Health; coordinate educational programs for across the clinical areas, support the implementation of process improvement activities across the clinic.

Specialized Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure educational activities are in line with Prevea`s mission and strategic objectives.
  2. Provide an appropriate climate for learning and facilitate the adult learning process by developing, maintaining and providing beneficial education to ensure clinical competencies and skills are met by new and ongoing staff.
  3. Develop yearly continuing education plans and opportunities for staff.
  4. Act as consultant/resource to assist in the implementation of clinical practice standards in clinical areas.
  5. Collaborate with departments (such as Plant Operations, Employee Health, and Human Resources) to make recommendations for yearly learning assignments to staff.
  6. Provide ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of educational activities to ensure that they maintain and enhance professional development. Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in planning, delivering and managing professional clinical staff development activities.
  7. Take part and be a lead for operational staff in annual flu season and organization-wide flu clinic planning.
  8. Assist and be a resource for Medical Assistants and Ophthalmic Technicians/Assistants that need to maintain certification credentials.
  9. Serve as the primary resource for Clinical Scope of Practices; and provide further education on this when warranted.
  10. Act as primary contact and liaison to pharmaceutical vaccine representatives seeking to update the clinic with information.
  11. Serve as a clinical resource for immunization education and processes, including teaching introductory vaccine classes, WIR (Wisconsin Immunization Registry), handling medication excursions, and VFC (Vaccine for Children) workflows. Will partner with VFC coordinators during VFC site audits.
  12. Respond to and provide clinical guidance for incidents that require clinical oversight (codes, medication errors/incidents, and 911 calls).
  13. Serve as resource for medication questions such as assisting in developing medication protocols.
  14. Be the primary contact for other clinic practices such as in maintaining crash carts and tackle boxes, education regarding controlled substance policies, new equipment requests, etc.
  15. Serves as a resource for and member of the Executive Safety and Quality Committee and New Procedure Committee.
  16. Participate and provide clinical education expertise in Quality and Population Health Initiatives.

Performance Requirements:

  1. Exceptional customer service, communication and organizational skills
  2. Ability to articulate to staff and providers
  3. Ability to operate a computer and to understand the language used in working with a specific system or systems
  4. Process oriented

Education/Experience/Certifications:

  1. RN License required
  2. Three to five years of clinical and/or hospital experience with knowledge of vaccines and providing education to staff.
  3. Bachelor`s or Master`s Preferred
  4. Small or large scale project management experience a plus.
  5. Experience with EPIC and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint a plus.

Non-Essential Duties: Other duties as assigned within scope of practice

Typical Working Conditions:

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic. Office / clinical environment, in which they deal with providers and new employees.

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires corrected vision to 20/30 and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
