Director of New Programs

Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects (start-up tasks) for implementing new production programs.

Supervisory Responsibilities – May supervise temp. or direct staff in a limited capacity.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
This position may involve knowledge of confidential information. Such information will be handled with the utmost discretion.
1. Reviews program technical and contractual requirements.
2. Identifies and assigns action items and schedules to pre-production team members (Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, etc.).
3. Monitors schedule progress and action item completion through the maintenance of the on-line Task Tracking System.
4. Evaluates the methods and processes for the most efficient and economical part production.
5. Provides identification to management and pre-production team of issues and problems that will affect meeting customer commitments.
6. Maintains dialog as needed with customers.
7. Works with company personnel, in all departments, as required to meet the requirements of production programs.
8. Develops program implementation plans.
9. Involved with research and product development.
10. Ensure that estimated material and labor standards are met and monitored.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Ability to read and understand technical documentation and purchase orders/contracts.
2. Ability to view projects from a systems perspective, understanding the interrelationships of all functions supporting production.
3. Strong oral and written communication skills.
4. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
5. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
6. Ability to perform basic and more complicated mathematic fundamentals – add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
7. Ability to use PC computers and have command of Microsoft software – Word and Excel, PowerPoint, and others as needed. Use of company computer systems (as trained). Also includes use of the project software.
8. Positive customer service and ability to work with others in a team setting. Regularly works effectively, and relates well, with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside of the company. Exhibits a consistent professional manner in all situations.
9. Understanding of the inner workings of the company, and can answer questions asked by internal and external customers.
10. Strong knowledge of the aerospace industry is preferred.
11. Strong motivation and self-starting initiative is required.
12. Strong organizational and planning skills are required.
13. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
14. Ability to operate effectively in a time-sensitive environment in order to meet deadlines. Ability to work to schedules and budgets.
15. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Kaizen and/or Lean techniques is helpful.
16. Leadership skills are required.
17. Knowledge of composite materials (epoxy, graphite, Kevlar, glass, etc.).
18. Strong problem solving skills. Ability to apply logic in problem solving for both internal and external customers.
19. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Communicate effectively with employees and customers.

Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
2. Minimum of five (5) years of composites manufacturing experience with extensive program management and project engineering experience is preferred.
3. Hands-on experience in research and product development.
4. Excellent command of computer skills is required:
a. All Microsoft Office software used by the company
b. All related company systems – will be trained in these systems.
c. Project management software.
5. Experience with Six Sigma, Kaizen and/or Lean techniques is a plus.

Work Authorization
Must qualify as a U.S. Person as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) in order to access export controlled technology.

Required Safety Training
1. Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
2. Attend required safety and environmental training, as determined by the EH&S office.

General: Maintain personal productivity and quality standards as determined by supervision. Follow standard departmental/company practices and procedures as outlined by management. Maintain area in a clean and orderly condition.
