SUMMARY:
This position will have HR generalist responsibility in the Defense Group for manufacturing and office employees. The position has an emphasis in labor relations and recruiting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee labor relations activities in the manufacturing plant(s).
- Provide guidance and direction to management team in labor relations, salary administration, compliance, policy interpretation, and performance management.
- Administer the labor contract for covered employees including grievances and arbitrations.
- Serve as a resource with the management bargaining committee.
- Lead recruiting efforts with a focus on efficient processes and reducing time to fill vacancies
- Oversee the maintenance of the internal job posting and bid process. Ensure that all procedures are consistently used for all positions and in compliance with policies and the union contract.
- Develop enhanced understanding of the business and build internal relationships to adequately create candidate profiles and develop sourcing strategies.
- Develops programs, policies, procedures, and controls regarding human resources and analyzes HR metrics.
- Maintain current knowledge of changes in federal and state employment and labor laws, rules and regulations. Advise management of changes in such laws as necessary.
- Understand and apply HR best practices in coordination with corporate human resources best practice initiatives.
- Champions HR and business unit continuous improvement efforts utilizing six sigma and lean tools.
- Support the Human Resources department to develop and implement HR strategy, goals, and projects.
- Develop and implement solutions to maximize employee retention and engagement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent
- 4-6 years experience in human resources in a manufacturing environment
- Labor relations experience in a union environment
- Candidate must possess distinctive ability to solve problems and make decisions; solid interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of employees; strong written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- PHR / SPHR certification highly preferred
- Masters Degree a plus
