The Center for Molecular Biophysics within the Biosciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks one postdoctoral researcher with experience in computational and/or computer science to support a recently funded Laboratory Directed Research and Development project on computational structure prediction and drug discovery.Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is the largest US Department of Energy science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy and security. Our diverse capabilities span a broad range of scientific and engineering disciplines, enabling the Laboratory to explore fundamental science challenges and to carry out the research needed to accelerate the delivery of solutions to the marketplace.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
You will join a multi-disciplinary team of investigators undertaking broad, integrated approaches to establish a supercomputer-based protocol for calculating protein structures and designing drugs. The team, which also includes Dr. Jeremy C. Smith, will work closely with collaborators at Georgetown University Comprehensive Cancer Center.More information about the Center for Molecular Biophysics is available at:

Qualifications Required:
Basic Qualifications:A Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, computer science, physics, chemistry, materials science or a related field is required. Prior knowledge and demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas are required:1) High-performance computing2) Computer programming3) Computational molecular biophysicsYou will optimize code for structure prediction, dynamics and docking programs on pre-exascale supercomputers and apply the results to cancer cell lines. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team are required.You cannot have received your Ph.D. degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment.This position is a full-time assignment for 24 months, contingent on successful performance and continued funding.For further Information, contact:Dr. Jeremy C SmithCenter for Molecular Biophysics (865) 574-9635 THIS EMAIL
