Job Summary:
When assigned, acts as liaison between architects, contractors, and university staff during the design and construction phases of projects on a variety of moderate to major projects, including the addition, alteration, renovation to existing buildings and the construction of new buildings to ensure that the University receives a contextual, safe, and efficient facility that is conducive to university needs. Position includes providing effective contract administration during the design and construction phases and assisting the end user during the transitional period from substantial completion of the project to occupancy.
Through a staff of at least two others, organize and perform programming, design, estimating, construction and contract documents for a variety of projects, including the addition, alteration, renovation to existing buildings and the construction of new buildings to ensure that the Institute receives a contextual, safe, and efficient facility that is conducive to university needs. Make decisions related to alternatives and work performance to fulfill project programs, budgets and schedules.

Two years experience as a licensed architect.
Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses
Have before hire Oklahoma Architect License and an

Skills, Proficiencies and Knowledge
Requires a broad based knowledge of all phases of commercial building design, construction, and maintenance, with a strong background in architectural design, mechanical equipment and HVAC systems, including energy management system interfaces. Must be knowledgeable in: Design and construction contract document preparation and administration; specification writing and interpretation; construction budgeting and control; quality control; and a basic understanding of current federal, state, and local environmental rules, regulations, building codes, and labor laws. Incumbent must function in a highly organized manner and possess high interpersonal skills and must have good communication (oral and written) skills. Must have the ability to identify and implement creative solutions to problems in order to stay within budget guidelines. Must recognize and be able to relate to the formal and informal organizational and functional structures of all Institute departments.

Eight years' practical experience in building design for capital projects with a construction value in excess of $2 million, including additions, alterations, renovations, and new construction. Of the total years of experience, requires four years experience in direct supervision of design production. In addition, of the total years of practical experience, requires four years as a Project Manager, responsible for management of both design and construction of moderate to large projects. Of the total years of experience, prefer six or more years experience in direct supervision of design production. In addition, of the total years of practical experience, prefer six or more years as a Project Manager, responsible for management of both design and construction of moderate to large projects. Pluses would include management of design and construction of higher education projects, and LEED AP (Accredited Professional) Certification.
