JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director HR/Labor Relations will work closely with Operational leaders, other Human Resources Managers, salaried employees, multiple Unions on site and the represented hourly workforce to achieve business objectives and promote positive Union relations. This is a very visible position for this fortune 500 manufacturing co at their largest plant globally located 1.5 hours outside of Cleveland, OH and about 2 hours outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Full relocation package.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leadership of union relations with four unions representing approximately 1,300 employees in production, security, clerical, technical and drafting/design occupations
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with Union leadership
  • Responsible for the administration of grievance procedure, negotiation of local contracts with constituent unions, and administration of collective bargaining agreements
  • As HRBP to the Operations, develop strategy and execute tactics to reduce costs and position the plant to be a globally competitive manufacturer within the locomotive industry
  • Continue transformation of culture at the company`s largest manufacturing and engineering site
  • Drive achievement of business objectives with functional business leaders throughout the manufacturing site.
  • Develop a strong partnership with plant leadership to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations
  • Ensure standardization and consistency of our processes, policies, past practices, and procedures
  • Administer and support all HR policies and initiatives
  • Establish, modify, and support local HR practices and policies, as required
  • Responsible for management of human resources and union relations team supporting the plant.
QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree from and accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 7 years of demonstrated Human Resources in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 5 years Union Relations experience
  • Experience working in a Matrix led organization preferably Fortune 100 or 500 manufacturing

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master`s Degree in Human Resources & Juris Doctor
  • Juris Doctor
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in Human Resources or related applicable field including conflict resolution, policy/procedure development, and grievance procedure administration
  • Ability to lead cultural change through collaboration
  • Ability to work at a strategic level and be able to execute on day-to-day operational matters
  • Strong and proven skills in union relations
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships in a union environment
  • Proven business acumen and ability to drive business results
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to communicate with and drive results throughout all levels of the business
  • Proven Project Management skills

Education:
University - Bachelor`s Degree/3-4 Year Degree
