The Environmental Manager will be assigned to the Environmental, Health and Safety group and will report directly to the Plant Manager. The position will be responsible for managing all plant activities related to environmental issues and compliance. In addition, the position provides subject matter expertise and demonstrated leadership in several environmental and project management areas. This position has responsibility for 4 direct reports including environmental engineers and environmental technicians. Duties: Develops and implements strategies to address permitting, compliance and remediation issues.Provides leadership to negotiate permits with regulatory agencies.Develops regulatory guidance documents and model programs.Participates in development of new initiatives for superior environmental and financial results.Develops compliance strategies for regulations and assists with the coordination of consultant support work and activities.Provide for development and implementation of training for direct reports. Conducting one-to-ones with direct reports.Directs external environmental consultants. QUALIFICATIONS
4-10 years of progressive Environmental experience in heavy manufacturing.Possesses broad technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and people leadership capabilities.Union environment experience preferred.Bachelors degree from a 4-year accredited University required, preferably in an Environmentally related field.Minimum of 4 - 7 years of related environmental experience in the manufacturing industry.1-year environmental multi-media experience (air, water, hazardous waste) required.Current knowledge and experience in applying regulations to include: OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Experience in corresponding and dealing with regulatory agencies.Good working knowledge of safety engineering and management principles.Self-Starter with ability to multitask and prioritize while meeting deadlines.Confidence and ability to interact productively with various people across departmental lines and at multiple organizational levels.A strong command of MS Office applications and ability to learn and use other IT systems.Ability to work in manufacturing environment moving in and around manufacturing equipment.Ability to successfully manage and respond to the EHS requirements of a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
